Parliament is set to discuss a proposal during its upcoming session that calls for establishing a youth empowerment centre in Janabiya, reflecting growing calls to expand youth development facilities in residential areas.
The proposal, submitted by MP Dr. Muneer Seroor, has been reviewed by the Services Committee, which prepared its report ahead of the parliamentary discussion.
The initiative seeks to establish a dedicated centre that would provide young people with programmes focused on skills development, training and community engagement. Supporters of the proposal say such facilities play an important role in nurturing youth potential and offering constructive spaces for learning and social participation.
According to the proposal, the centre would serve young residents of Janabiya and surrounding areas by offering activities that strengthen personal development and encourage innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership skills.
MPs backing the initiative noted that empowering youth requires not only educational opportunities but also accessible community spaces where young people can develop practical abilities and interact in a supportive environment.
The proposed centre would complement existing youth programmes while helping address the growing demand for community-based facilities designed specifically for younger generations.
Parliament is expected to review the committee’s recommendations during the session before deciding whether to endorse the proposal and refer it to the government for consideration.
Supporters believe that expanding youth empowerment initiatives contributes to long-term social development by equipping young citizens with the skills and confidence needed to participate actively in the Kingdom’s economic and social future.
