Man who tried to set company alight goes on trial

A man who allegedly tried to set a company, where his brother works, on fire has appeared in the High Criminal Court.
The case has been adjourned to 24 February, with the defendant kept in custody.
Prosecutors said CCTV footage shows the defendant assaulting his brother, damaging the company cash safe, and pouring a flammable substance over the safe and company documents before attempting to ignite them. They called for the maximum sentence, saying the act endangered lives and property.
The complainant, the defendant’s brother and work partner, said the attacker arrived in a state of extreme anger, struck him, and damaged the safe.
The defendant admitted hitting his brother but denied trying to start a fire or harming company property. His lawyer said settlement Representative image talks are ongoing.
