Manama: Ahmed Al-Jamea, Director of Customer Services at the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), has confirmed a growing demand for the Authority’s fixed monthly discount service, with total registered accounts rising by 9% in January 2026 compared to December 2025.
Al-Jamea said the January figures reflect strong subscriber engagement with the service, which allows electricity and water bills to be paid through a fixed monthly deduction, helping customers better manage their financial commitments throughout the year.
He noted a significant increase in new registrations within the subsidised residential category, which recorded a 160% rise compared to the previous month, highlighting increased interest among eligible households in benefiting from the service.
Al-Jamea explained that the initiative forms part of EWA’s ongoing efforts to enhance its services and expand digital solutions available to subscribers, aiming to simplify payment procedures and improve overall service efficiency.
He added that the Authority will continue offering the fixed monthly discount service through its approved channels while working to raise awareness of its mechanism and benefits, in line with subscribers’ needs and expectations.
