The Ministry of Works has upgraded its contractor invoice management service in the roads sector as part of wider government efforts to improve and re-engineer public services.
The upgraded system introduces two service tracks: a regular track for tender projects and a fast track for local purchase requests, aimed at improving flexibility and speeding up procedures.
Under the new system, processing time for the regular track has been reduced from 30 to 14 working days, while the fast track has been shortened from 20 to 10 working days. The ministry also reduced required documentation by 50 per cent and lowered service-level agreement timelines by at least 25 per cent.
The service has now been fully digitised, with improvements made to the user interface and procedures to make the process simpler and more efficient.
Engineer Huda Mirza Al Salman, Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services at the Ministry of Works, said the initiative reflects the ministry’s commitment to adopting digital solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce processing times, and improve transparency and service quality
The ministry noted that the initiative is part of broader government plans to modernise services and support digital transformation across sectors. More than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated, and published. Additionally, 800 services have undergone development and re-engineering across various government entities, based on feedback received through the National suggestions and complaints system “Tawasul” and input from investors.
