The Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates held their first Strategic Financial Dialogue in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant step in strengthening financial and economic cooperation between the two countries. The Bahraini delegation was led by Mr. Yousif Abdullah Al Hammoud, Undersecretary for Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, while the UAE side was headed by H.E. Younis Haji Al Khouri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance.
The dialogue follows the Memorandum of Understanding signed in November 2024, which aims to promote collaboration in financial planning, share expertise, launch joint programs, and monitor progress on ongoing initiatives.
During the meeting, Mr. Al Hammoud highlighted the strong historical and fraternal ties between Bahrain and the UAE, noting the high-level support for bilateral relations from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
He praised the financial and economic partnership between the two countries, particularly projects funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development in key sectors such as health, housing, energy, water, infrastructure, and transportation. These initiatives have contributed to Bahrain’s economic growth and exemplify the countries’ strategic partnership.
The discussions also covered joint development programs currently being implemented in both nations, emphasizing the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and technical expertise to achieve shared objectives and further strengthen cooperation.
