Parliamentary Dialogue Focuses on Gulf Cooperation and Legislative Coordination
Bahrain and Oman reaffirmed their strong brotherly relations during a high-level parliamentary meeting held today in Muscat. His Excellency Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of Bahrain’s Council of Representatives, met with His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al-Maawali, Speaker of the Omani Shura Council, as part of the Bahraini delegation’s official visit to the Sultanate.
The discussions highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the two nations, with both sides emphasizing the shared commitment to developing parliamentary, legislative, and diplomatic collaboration. The meeting also reviewed ways to strengthen bilateral coordination and support mechanisms that serve the mutual interests and aspirations of both countries.
Key topics included enhancing parliamentary and legislative cooperation, exchanging expertise within parliamentary secretariats, and promoting diplomatic engagement, particularly in light of Bahrain’s chairmanship of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Parliamentary Speakers’ meeting and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
Both delegations stressed the importance of advancing Gulf parliamentary collaboration to benefit the GCC states and their peoples while contributing to regional security and stability.
The Bahraini Speaker praised Oman’s development achievements and extended gratitude for the warm hospitality received during the visit. Sheikh Khalid Al-Maawali, in turn, commended Bahrain’s progress and the delegation’s efforts to deepen bilateral ties, highlighting the success of Bahrain in hosting recent high-profile regional parliamentary meetings.
The meeting was attended by members of the Omani Shura Council, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Oman, Dr. Juma bin Ahmed Al-Kaabi, and Bahraini parliamentary delegation members including MPs Ahmed Sabah Al-Salloom, Zainab Abdul Ameer Khalil, Najeeb Hamad Al-Kuwari, Mohammed Jassim Al-Alawi, Jalal Kazem Al-Mahfoudh, Mariam Hassan Al-Sayegh, and Ali Saqr Al-Dosari.
