Bahrain’s Women Empowerment Award Goes Global

Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended a special event in Washington hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Embassy to promote the HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women’s Empowerment 2027. The gathering featured distinguished guests including Her Excellency Dr. Sima Sami Bahous, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women, who also chairs the Award’s International Jury, Sheikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Washington, embassy officials, and other invited dignitaries.

The event opened with a welcome speech by Sheikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, who praised Bahrain’s remarkable progress in advancing women’s leadership. He highlighted the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as key drivers behind these achievements. Sheikh Abdullah also acknowledged the essential role of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women, in turning this vision into sustainable policies and initiatives with local, regional, and global impact.

In his address, Minister Dr. Al Zayani stressed that the presence of the International Jury members underscores the global prestige of the HRH Princess Sabeeka Award and its commitment to celebrating women’s leadership while inspiring progress worldwide.

Dr. Al Zayani further highlighted Bahrain’s longstanding leadership in promoting women’s roles and protecting their rights. He expressed pride in Bahraini women for attaining top leadership positions across government, the private sector, and all areas of society. He added that the establishment and continued support of this award demonstrates Bahrain’s dedication to recognizing women’s achievements globally and fostering empowerment in every sector.
