His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has directed that housing units be granted to members of the Kingdom of Bahrain national handball team.
This gesture comes in recognition of their historic victory at the Asian Handball Championship in Kuwait and their contribution to raising Bahrain’s profile at the continental level. This marks the first Asian title in Bahraini handball history, a milestone celebrated by the nation and the royal family.
The players, along with the technical and administrative staff, were received by His Majesty at Al Safriya Palace, in a ceremony attended by His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of the King; His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports; and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
Reception
During the reception, HM King Hamad congratulated the team on their achievement, commending their performance, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. He noted that the title reflects the advanced level reached by Bahraini handball and underscores the continued progress of national sports.
His Majesty also praised the efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser and HH Shaikh Khalid in supporting sports and youth development, as well as the Bahrain Handball Federation, led by Ali Isa Ishaqi, and the technical and administrative staff for their meticulous preparation and organisation.
The support of Bahraini fans was also lauded, with His Majesty highlighting the positive impact of their encouragement on the team’s success.
Achievements
He urged the players to maintain their high performance and continue striving for further achievements in future competitions.
The members of the national handball team and their staff expressed their heartfelt appreciation to HM the King for the recognition and support, noting that such gestures serve as a strong motivation to excel and represent Bahrain with distinction.
They also thanked HH Shaikh Nasser and HH Shaikh Khalid for their continuous support throughout the championship and in international participations.
