Bahrain Takes Top Spots at King Salman Camel Festival

Riyadh: Camels owned by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa delivered notable performances at the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Camel Festival 2026, securing top honours at one of the Gulf region’s most prestigious heritage sporting events, held in Riyadh under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The Bahraini camel “Sayaf” claimed first place in the festival’s second round, while “Azoum” followed with a first-place finish in the third round, highlighting Bahrain’s strong presence in competitive camel racing at the regional level.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, praised the achievements, describing them as a reflection of sustained preparation, advanced breeding standards and professional training practices adopted by Bahraini participants.
He noted that the results underscore the progress Bahrain has made in camel racing, positioning its competitors among the leading contenders in Gulf heritage sports. His Highness also emphasised the importance of the festival in preserving cultural traditions while providing a competitive platform that brings together elite camel owners and trainers from across the region.
Commending the organisation of the event, His Highness highlighted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s role in hosting large-scale heritage sporting festivals that strengthen cultural ties and promote traditional sports at both regional and international levels.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Camel Festival is regarded as one of the most prominent annual events celebrating camel racing and breeding excellence, attracting wide participation from Gulf states and reinforcing the sport’s cultural and economic significance.
