Bahrain Celebrates Women’s Contributions to National Development

Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the Wife of His Majesty the King and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Women, said that Bahraini Women’s Day is an important annual event supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. She thanked the King and the government, led by HRH Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for their continuous support, which has helped Bahraini women advance and achieve leadership roles.

Speaking at the 2025 Bahraini Women’s Day celebration, held under the theme “Bahraini Women… Excellence, Creativity, Innovation,” Princess Sabika said the occasion coincides with Bahrain hosting Gulf leaders for the 46th Gulf Summit, as well as the national celebrations of Accession Day and National Day. She added that these events reflect Bahrain’s trust in its citizens and reaffirm the commitment and love for the country.

Princess Sabika highlighted the achievements of Bahraini women, including regional and international awards, and praised the institutional and political support that has opened opportunities for women in various fields. She also spoke about the Supreme Council for Women’s plans for the coming years, including continuing to support women’s progress and leadership while keeping up with technological developments.

The celebration included a special film showcasing the success, innovation, and growing role of Bahraini women in different sectors.

Several Bahraini women who received international and regional awards were also honored. Among them were Amina Abdulmajid Al Hawaj, who won multiple invention awards including from the World Intellectual Property Organization, and Dr. Hayat Abdullah Yousif, who received the LEWAS Leadership Award for women in the oil and gas sector. Others included Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Areej, Shaimaa Shouqi Al Meer, Aisha Khalid Al Haram, Dr. Mariam Adhbi Al Jalahma, and Dr. Maha Mahmood Al Sabbagh, recognized for excellence in science, health, space, and innovation.

In addition, companies and organizations that supported Bahraini Women’s Day 2025 were honored, including Sheraton Bahrain, Bapco Energies, National Bank of Bahrain, Alba, and others.
