Cabinet Approves New WMD Prohibition Committee
The Cabinet has approved a draft resolution to establish the National Committee for the Prohibition of Weapons of Mass Destruction, marking a significant step in strengthening Bahrain’s commitment to global non-proliferation and security standards.
The decision came during the weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at Gudaibiya Palace.
The new committee will be responsible for coordinating national efforts to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction, aligning with international conventions and enhancing Bahrain’s security framework.
During the session, the Cabinet also approved additional memoranda, including:

A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education and the International Baccalaureate Organization, aimed at expanding academic pathways and global learning opportunities for students.

A Memorandum of Understanding between the Education and Training Quality Authority and the University of Cambridge, focusing on quality assurance and educational development.
The Cabinet reviewed priority program frameworks submitted by:

The Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance.

The Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs.
The meeting also highlighted key achievements and engagements, noting:

Bahrain’s participation in the ERTC Conference, organized by the World Refining Association.

The official visit of the Minister of Information to Egypt.

Engagements at the 9th Misk Global Forum.
These discussions formed part of the broader weekly session, which addressed national developments and upcoming regional commitments, including preparations for Bahrain’s hosting of the 46th GCC Supreme Council Summit.
