Bahrain Highlights Foreign Policy Priorities in National Dialogue
The Bahrain Institute for Political Development hosted a session under its “National Pathways” programme, focusing on the Kingdom’s foreign policy. The dialogue was led by Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Al-Turaifi, Head of Arab and African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with participation from senior government officials and directors from various public institutions.
Ambassador Al-Turaifi outlined Bahrain’s foreign policy approach, which centres on mutual respect, non-interference in the affairs of other nations, and the promotion of peaceful solutions to conflicts. He highlighted the Kingdom’s focus on strengthening regional and international partnerships to support stability, security, and development across the region.
The session also reflected Bahrain’s active role in supporting Arab cooperation. Ambassador Al-Turaifi shared insights from Bahrain’s successful hosting of the Arab Summit, describing it as a demonstration of the Kingdom’s organisational expertise and diplomatic leadership, reinforcing its commitment to Arab unity.
Diplomatic Opportunities
The ambassador also addressed upcoming diplomatic milestones, including Bahrain’s non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council and the hosting of the next Gulf Summit. He emphasised that these events provide a platform to advance Gulf and Arab cooperation while enhancing the Kingdom’s international standing.
Participants actively engaged with the dialogue, posing questions and contributing to discussions. The session is part of the “National Pathways” initiative, which aims to deepen political understanding, encourage civic responsibility, and strengthen the capacity of government leaders to support Bahrain’s comprehensive development.
