HM King Hamad Praises Role of Bahraini Press in Advancing National Development
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, reaffirmed the pivotal role of the national press as an active partner in supporting the Kingdom’s sustainable development and upholding its national mission. His Majesty lauded the long-standing legacy of Bahraini journalism and the contributions of its pioneers and successive generations, describing the press as a beacon of thought and a vital pillar in preserving and strengthening Bahrain’s authentic national identity.
This came as His Majesty received at Al-Safriya Palace today Mr. Isa Al Shaiji, Chairman of the Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA), and members of its new board of directors, following the formation of the new council and the issuance of the new Press and Electronic Media Law. The delegation extended to His Majesty their deepest gratitude and appreciation for his royal endorsement and ratification of the law — a historic milestone and qualitative leap for Bahrain’s media and journalism landscape.
During the meeting, His Majesty congratulated the association’s leadership and members, as well as Bahrain’s wider media and press community, on the issuance of this modern and progressive law. He emphasized that the legislation strengthens national journalism, protects journalists’ rights, and enhances the media’s constructive role in the Kingdom’s progress. His Majesty commended the fruitful cooperation between the executive and legislative branches that contributed to shaping this law, describing such partnership as a cornerstone of Bahrain’s development and modernization process.
His Majesty also praised the achievements of the Bahrain Journalists Association, its initiatives to develop the profession, empower its members, and nurture local media talent. He noted the Association’s efforts to foster regional and international cooperation, reflecting the distinguished reputation of Bahrain’s media.
Reaffirming his unwavering support for freedom of opinion and expression, His Majesty expressed pride in the dedication and professionalism of Bahraini journalists who uphold the integrity of their mission with objectivity and credibility. He further commended the Ministry of Information for its efforts in enhancing national media and investing in homegrown talent.
In recognition of the Bahraini press’s remarkable national contributions, His Majesty ordered the allocation and construction of a dedicated headquarters for the Bahrain Journalists Association, underscoring his commitment to creating an empowering environment for media professionals and reinforcing their role in serving the nation.
His Majesty also entrusted the BJA Chairman with conveying his greetings and best wishes to all journalists and media personnel across the Kingdom, acknowledging their efforts in serving the nation and its citizens.
For his part, Mr. Isa Al Shaiji expressed profound gratitude for His Majesty’s gracious directives and constant support, affirming that the royal gesture to establish a new headquarters symbolizes His Majesty’s deep appreciation and continuous encouragement of Bahrain’s media community. He praised the significant progress and achievements of Bahraini journalism under the prosperous reign of His Majesty the King.
