Southern Governorate Marks World Cancer Awareness Month with Health Initiatives

The Southern Governorate celebrated World Cancer Awareness Month at Zayed City Walkway, with the presence and support of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate. The event forms part of the Governorate’s ongoing efforts to enhance public health awareness and foster community participation, reflecting its commitment to international health initiatives and community partnership.
The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Brigadier Hamad Mohammed Al Khayyat, Deputy Governor, alongside senior officials, officers, and representatives from government agencies including the Southern Municipality, the Health and Social Affairs Department, the Public Security Sports Federation at the Ministry of Interior, the Health Promotion Department at the Ministry of Health, the Health Genome Center, as well as civil society organizations and the Muscle Aid Clinic for physical therapy and pro boxing activities. These efforts support the Governorate’s vision to maintain the title of the Southern Healthy Governorate.
During the event, His Highness the Governor highlighted that the initiative aims to raise health awareness, strengthen community partnerships, support the Governorate’s mission to serve residents, and reinforce collaboration with relevant institutions and associations. He emphasized the importance of education and awareness in improving community health and noted the Governorate’s commitment to addressing residents’ needs in both the health and social sectors, aligned with sustainable development goals.
The event featured a health awareness exhibition and a community walking exercise, engaging both civil and community participants. Attendees commended the Southern Governorate’s continuous efforts to promote health awareness during World Health Awareness Month (October) and its proactive support for health initiatives across the region.
