Indian Club to host Onam Fiesta ‘Aavani 2025’

The Indian Club has announced a line-up of cultural and festive programmes to mark the Onam Fiesta ‘Aavani 2025’, which will run from today to October 10.

The celebrations will begin tomorrow with an inaugural ceremony followed by a cinematic dance competition at 7pm, with Mr. Ramzan Muhammed serving as the chief guest for the evening.

On September 24, the spotlight will be on Thiruvathira, the traditional Onam group dance performed by women, scheduled to start at 8:30pm. The following day, September 25, audiences can enjoy the Onappattu (Onam songs) and Onapudava competitions beginning at 7:30pm.

Festivities continue on September 26 with the Pookalam (floral display) competition in the morning at 10am, while the evening will feature a Payasam competition at 6:30pm, followed by VIBES – Onam Musical Bonanza by Team Sitar.

Official ceremony

On October 2, the club will hold its official ceremony, which will be followed by a mega musical show headlined by Abid Anwar and Divya Nair starting from 7:30pm.

The final weekend of festivities on October 3 will open with a tug of war at 5:30pm.

Later in the evening, the Ghoshayatra procession will bring to life Kerala’s folklore and traditional costumes, culminating with Sharudhaya – Nadan Pattukal.

The Indian Club Executive Committee extended an invitation to the wider community, noting that the Onam Fiesta serves as a vibrant celebration of Kerala’s cultural heritage, traditions, and spirit of togetherness.
