17-Year-Old Arrested for Online Exploitation of 15-Year-Old Girl

The Head of the Family and Child Prosecution announced that the Public Prosecution received a report from the Child Protection Unit in the Cybercrime and Economic Security Department of the Ministry of Interior. The report stated that a 15-year-old girl was targeted and exploited online by an unknown individual using a social media platform.

Authorities conducted investigations and successfully identified the user behind the account. Following this, the Public Prosecution began questioning the suspect, a 17-year-old, who admitted to randomly adding the girl’s account while pretending to be a member of the Child Protection Unit. He then lured the girl to obtain inappropriate videos.

The Public Prosecution ordered the suspect’s pre-trial detention and instructed the extraction of data from his mobile phone to determine the full extent of his criminal activity. Investigations are ongoing.

The Head of the Family and Child Prosecution emphasized the vital role of parental supervision, especially when children use social media. Parents are urged to monitor the content their children access and carefully track their online interactions, as continuous family oversight remains the most important measure in protecting children from online dangers.
