A parcel containing 9.5 kilogrammes of suspected liquid narcotics was seized by Bahrain’s Anti-Narcotics Directorate, leading to the arrest of three men.
Two Asian nationals were taken into custody after turning up to collect the package, which had arrived by post. Investigators had been tracking the delivery and moved in once the pair appeared.
The parcel was found to contain several boxes filled with a liquid believed to be a drug.
Inquiries
One suspect’s flat was searched, turning up a supply of medical tablets, drug-soaked papers, and items thought to be used for selling and taking drugs.
Third suspect
A third man, a Bahraini, was later arrested while attempting to collect the same parcel from one of the accused. He put up resistance during the arrest.
A search of his person, car, and home revealed further suspected narcotics, as well as tools linked to the trade and use of drugs.
The Public Prosecution questioned the three men and ordered that they be held for seven days while inquiries continue.
Charges have been brought for bringing in, possessing, and keeping banned substances with the aim of selling and using them.
The seized items are being tested by specialists. The police have been asked to file their full report, and witnesses are being called in. Investigations remain in progress.
