Widening works have begun on Al Fateh Highway, with machinery and barriers now lining both sides of the Salman Port Intersection where it meets Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway.
Crews are adding lanes in both directions, on the eastern side near Ghuraifa (Block 324) for traffic heading towards Manama, and on the western side near Umm Al Hassam (Block 339) for vehicles travelling south.
Congestion
According to the Ministry of Works, the project aims to ease congestion.
The northbound stretch will be increased to three lanes, while the southbound side will carry four.
This extension runs from the Salman Port Intersection to just before the Dulab Junction at Al Juffair.
Scheme
The scheme includes shifting underground services to accommodate the expansion, along with the installation of road signs and markings to manage traffic and ensure safety.
This section forms the final phase of a broader set of improvements along Al Fateh Highway.
Previous works, stretching over three kilometres from Shaikh Hamad Bridge to Juffair, have already been completed and opened to traffic.
