The Northern Governor, His Excellency Ali bin Al Shaikh Abdulhussain Al Asfoor, has urged mourning centres to play an expanded role in mentoring young people, calling for their transformation into social and educational hubs that extend their influence beyond the Ashura season.

During an inspection tour of key mourning centres in Maqaba, Jannusan, and Abu Quwa, the Governor underscored the importance of using the spiritual weight of Ashura to strengthen national values among the youth.

H.E. stressed that religious leaders should act as year-round role models, linking young people to national initiatives and nurturing their sense of responsibility and belonging.

His Excellency reiterated the Governorate’s full commitment to the directives of the Minister of Interior, ensuring the season is observed with discipline and respect for its sanctity.

H.E. urged organisers to avoid behaviours or practices that detract from the religious essence of the occasion.

At the mourning centres, the Governor met with centre leaders and reviewed preparations, highlighting the need for calm, orderly environments throughout the commemorations.

Closing his visits, the Governor praised the efforts of the organisers and reaffirmed the importance of maintaining the moral and spiritual essence of Ashura while ensuring safety and public order.
