Shura Council Chairman Commends Royal Support for Press Freedom and Media Development in Bahrain

The Chairman of the Shura Council, H.E. Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, praised the ongoing achievements of Bahraini journalism, attributing its growth and success to the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain. He emphasized that the Kingdom’s media sector stands as a key partner in national development and a vital channel for promoting transparency and openness.

In a statement marking World Press Freedom Day, observed annually on May 3, the Shura Council Chairman expressed pride in His Majesty the King's steadfast commitment to empowering truthful journalism and supporting a noble media mission. He highlighted that Bahrain’s press has flourished thanks to royal backing for media freedom and freedom of expression.

“The progress of Bahraini journalism reflects the care, encouragement, and unwavering support of His Majesty the King, who believes in the media’s national role and its contribution to Bahrain’s comprehensive development,” Al Saleh said.

He also applauded the government, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for its dedication to fostering the media landscape in Bahrain. He noted that the government's efforts continue to encourage national journalists and media professionals to responsibly promote awareness and highlight Bahrain’s achievements.

Al Saleh underscored that local journalism remains committed to its noble message, playing a professional and national role in supporting Bahrain’s reform and development efforts. He praised the press for its respect for freedom of opinion and its openness to constructive dialogue and diverse perspectives.

He concluded by offering prayers for the continued health and long life of His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, while expressing hopes for further progress, prosperity, and security for the Kingdom under their wise leadership.
