A well-worn road in Hoora has been repaved, streetlights swapped out, and speed bumps put in — while a major expansion of Al Fateh Highway is on the cards.

The Works Ministry says these are part of a push to revamp roads and services across Bahrain.

In a letter to Parliament, the Minister of Works, His Excellency Ebrahim Al Hawaj, said in response to a question by MP Mohammed Hussain Janahi that the First Constituency of the Capital Governorate has seen several upgrades.

Streets

Sewage networks have been rolled out, dirt tracks turned into proper roads, and worn-out streets patched up.

Among the finished projects is Road 1903 in Block 319, Hoora, where workers laid new asphalt, tidied up the underground pipes, and put in speed bumps to keep drivers in check.

Streetlights have been improved, and fresh road signs put in to make things clearer.

Utility work

There’s also space set aside for utility work down the track.

Looking ahead, the ministry has bigger plans.

Over the next two years, Al Fateh Highway will be widened with a new turn-off towards Shaikh Hamad Bridge, plus an extra lane on the bridge itself.

Roads

Meanwhile, two roads in Block 307, Manama, and another in Block 318, Hoora, will be spruced up.

Parking will be squeezed into available spaces, rainwater drains will be put in, and footpaths laid to make streets safer for pedestrians.

The ministry says new streetlights and road signs will round out the work, with underground ducts ready for future service lines.
