Music soiree showcases Sindhi culture, heritage

The cultural programme of the Sindhi Sangat Bahrain attracted a large number of Sindhi families. Musical Sindhi Cultural Night was held at a local restaurant here in Sanad recently in which more than 80 Sindhi families wearing traditional Sindhi Ajrak and Topi took part in the event.

Head of Chancery Pakistan Embassy Muhammad Ahad was the chief guest. On the occasion, famous Sindhi folk singer Ahmed Mughal and other local singers enthralled the audience with their folk songs.

Sindhi Sangat Bahrain is a group of people belonging to various parts of Sindh Dharti, currently residing in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This forum is aimed at promoting and preserving the Sindhi culture and tradition. The registration of this forum is under process.

Ahad said Sindhi civilisation is an ancient civilization and the Sindhis have been celebrating their cultural day in December throughout the world.

“Sindhis are deeply connected to their civilisation even today. They love their traditional attire and consider the Ajrak and Topi as the signs of their identification and are very keen to wear those at all important occasions,” he explained.

He said Pakistan Embassy had always been very keen to support the cultural activities of the Pakistanis in Bahrain. 

Chairman of Sindhi Sangat Bahrain Manzoor Sathiar said that love for the Sindhi culture was mixed in their blood. He said that their culture and traditions were very deep rooted and such programmes were simply the means of expression showing their devotion with their cultural roots.
