HM King Hamad calls for continued dedication to education at Bahrain First Festival 2026

TDT | Manama His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa commended the Kingdom of Bahrain’s educators on the sector’s achievements.
He urged them to remain dedicated to advancing knowledge and learning as a cornerstone of national development.
Speaking at the Bahrain First Festival 2026 at Bahrain National Stadium, HM the King highlighted the importance of building on the Kingdom’s rich heritage and its longstanding role as a hub of education and culture.
Congratulations
“I extend my congratulations to all those working in the education sector for their achievements, both institutional and individual,” His Majesty said.
He emphasised the pivotal role of teachers, students, and educational institutions in shaping the nation’s future.
“We must continue our efforts to support Bahrain’s development through knowledge and learning,” he added, stressing that education is central to national progress and societal growth.
Commitment
Marking the Kingdom’s historical commitment to education, HM King Hamad noted, “Bahrain will soon commemorate the centenary of formal government education for girls and the establishment of the first girls’ school in 1928.”
He directed that adequate preparations be made to reflect the occasion’s national significance and recognise the contributions of women to education and societal development.
Following His Majesty’s directives, the Ministry of Education confirmed that preparations would begin immediately for the centenary commemoration of formal education for girls, recognising generations of Bahraini women and their contributions to the nation’s development.
Attendees
The festival, organised by the Ministry of Education, was attended by approximately 30,000 students from public and private schools.
His Majesty was welcomed upon arrival by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, and other ministry officials.
The ceremony opened with the national anthem, followed by a Quranic recitation, before the Minister of Education highlighted Bahrain’s international educational achievements, including first place globally in the Microsoft Showcase Schools programme for 2025 and the University of Bahrain’s entry into the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the first time since its establishment.
The Minister also cited a World Bank report commending the Mohammed Jaber Al Ansari Teachers College and noted that the Ministry of Education had won the Arab Government Excellence Award for the best educational project.
