Ex-model 'in divorce battle with Saudi husband worth £4bn
A former Pirelli calendar girl who was once romantically linked to Prince Andrew is involved in what could prove to be one of the largest divorce cases in British history.
Christina Estrada has reportedly separated from Walid Juffali, a Saudi oil-and-gas billionaire with an estimated £4 billion family fortune.
Ms Estrada is laying claim to three luxury homes in Britain, together worth in the region of £60 million, according to the Mail.
These include Mr Juffali’s London home – a £41 million converted church in Knightsbridge – plus country mansions in Surrey and Devon, which are together believed to be worth tens of millions.
The newspaper said it is thought Ms Estrada, 52, will seek a payout larger than the value of the three properties.
The American born former model was linked to Prince Andrew in the early 1990s. She and Mr Juffali have been married since 2001 and have a 13-year-old daughter.
She is reported to have launched divorce proceedings after her husband married another woman, a Lebanese TV presenter, in 2012. Islamic law permits him to have multiple wives.
Mr Juffali had to pay his first wife, Basma Al-Sulaiman, £40 million when he divorced her 15 years ago, having fallen in love with Ms Estrada.
The most expensive divorce payout in British legal history is that of Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula One racing CEO, who paid former model Slavica Ecclestone £740 million when she divorced him in 2009.
Sir Paul McCartney paid £24 million to Heather Mills when they divorced in 2008.
Mr Juffali’s family owns EA Juffali & Brothers, one of Saudi Arabia’s largest conglomerates, which has a long list of multinational corporations as partners including IBM, Mercedes-Benz and Michelin.
