Couple Arrested After Allegedly Selling Month-Old Baby
A couple have been arrested for allegedly selling their one-month-old baby, with local police saying the child was later sold several times before being rescued more than 550 kilometres away.
The couple allegedly sold the baby for INR 120,000, reportedly to fund a luxury lifestyle. The child was later sold to another woman for INR 270,000 and subsequently to a man posing as a doctor for INR 350,000, according to local police.
The alleged fake doctor then sold the baby to a relative in Hyderabad for INR 350,000.
Local police rescued the child and arrested seven people in connection with the case. The investigation is continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged sales and identify the role of those involved.
