Russian Tu-95 Crashes During Training Flight, Six Dead
A Russian Tu-95 military aircraft crashed during a training flight in the Far Eastern Amur region on Tuesday, killing six crew members and injuring another, according to Russia’s Defence Ministry.
The aircraft went down in an uninhabited area of the Amur region, with the ministry saying preliminary information indicated that six crew members had died and another had been injured and evacuated to a medical facility.
The Tu-95 is a long-range strategic bomber operated by Russia. Reports said the aircraft was not carrying ammunition during the flight.
The cause of the crash was not immediately established by Russian authorities. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is expected to follow.
