Russia Says It Intercepted More Than 500 Ukrainian Drones Overnight
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces targeted facilities in Kyiv and the surrounding region that it alleged were involved in the production of drones and related components.
Moscow also claimed strikes on logistics sites and a drone warehouse in Ukraine’s Odesa region, along with a vessel it said was carrying military cargo to the port of Odesa. The claims have not been independently verified.
Russia said its air defences intercepted more than 500 Ukrainian drones overnight across 18 Russian regions, as well as areas over the Black Sea, Sea of Azov and Russian-occupied Crimea.
Regional authorities in Russia reported casualties following the attacks. Officials in Belgorod said eight people were injured, including two seriously, while two others were reportedly wounded in drone strikes in Bryansk.
Ukrainian authorities had not immediately commented on the reported attacks.
Russia and Ukraine have stepped up long-range drone strikes in recent months, targeting infrastructure including logistics facilities, ports and energy sites. Both sides deny deliberately targeting civilians.
