India' PM Modi promises swift justice in NEET paper leak cases as protests intensify

New Delhi: India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that the government would set up fast-track courts to ensure swift and severe punishment for those engaged in examination paper leaks, as youth-led protests over the NEET controversy rage across India.
In an X statement, Modi stated that the welfare and future of the country's youth remained the government's top priority, and he cautioned that anyone who compromised the future of students would face consequences. He also urged officials to take all necessary steps to expedite proceedings in paper-leak cases.
The announcement came after growing protests among students and young activists demanding accountability for suspected anomalies in competitive examinations, notably the NEET. Protesters have also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, claiming that fast-track courts alone will not address broader issues about examination reform and accountability.
