General Assembly Signs MoU with Innovate For Bahrain to Strengthen Collaboration in Supporting Startup Growth

Bahrain has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Innovate for Bahrain, a platform operated by Bahrain FinTech Bay, aimed at strengthening collaboration in the areas of digital skills development, entrepreneurship and innovation support, and empowering the next generation of Bahraini entrepreneurs. The partnership seeks to contribute to the growth of Bahrain’s startup ecosystem and reinforce the Kingdom’s position as a regional hub for innovation and the digital economy.
Under the MoU, the two parties will collaborate on launching joint initiatives, programs, and activities targeting entrepreneurs, innovators, students, and professionals. These will include specialized workshops, industry events, knowledge-sharing sessions, and professional networking opportunities designed to enhance practical learning, facilitate engagement with industry experts, and support the development of the entrepreneurial and digital skills needed to capitalize on opportunities within the digital economy.
As part of this collaboration, General Assembly will contribute its specialized expertise by delivering mentoring and professional guidance sessions led by industry experts and practitioners as part of initiatives organized by Innovate for Bahrain. This includes participation in the Women in Tech Program, which runs from March to September, through a specialized mentoring session focused on User Experience (UX) Design.
Ultimately, the partnership seeks to strengthen connections between employers and emerging talent, support employment opportunities, and encourage direct engagement with industry, helping organizations gain access to qualified professionals equipped with future-ready skills.
Commenting on the partnership, Ms. Ahlam Oun, Director of General Assembly Middle East Academies said: “This partnership comes at a time when Bahrain continues to achieve significant milestones that reinforce its position as one of the region’s leading destinations for innovation and entrepreneurship in technology, including its ranking among the top five startup ecosystems in the MENA region. Against this backdrop, we believe in the importance of building a sustainable pipeline of entrepreneurs and innovators capable of transforming promising ideas into ventures that generate meaningful economic impact, particularly through the integration of technology into business creation and development.”
She added: “At General Assembly, our role extends beyond developing technical skills to becoming an active partner in supporting Bahrain’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Today, we are proud that more than 400 of our graduates are employed within startup companies, while other graduates have successfully launched more than 20 startups and entrepreneurial ventures. Through our collaboration with Innovate for Bahrain, we look forward to strengthening collaboration between education, entrepreneurship, the private sector, and the wider innovation community, enabling Bahrainis to transform their ideas into successful ventures that contribute to sustainable economic growth.”
For her part, Ms. Suzy Alzeerah, Chief Operating Officer of Bahrain FinTech Bay, said: “This partnership represents an important step toward strengthening Bahrain’s startup ecosystem and creating greater opportunities for ambitious young people and entrepreneurs.
