Madrid: Kylian Mbappé has embraced the rising speculation that he will win the 2026 Ballon d'Or, saying that his record-breaking World Cup campaign makes this an especially good year for his ambition.
The France captain scored 10 goals at the World Cup, earning the Golden Boot and bringing his career total to 22 goals, making him the tournament's all-time leading scorer. France finally placed fourth.
Mbappé stated that playing for Real Madrid automatically puts him in contention for significant individual accolades. He admitted that fans usually bring up the Ballon d'Or with him and stated that he believes it's a good year to win it, emphasising that voters will ultimately decide.
The 27 years old is still chasing his first Ballon d'Or, which will be presented in London on October 26.
