Samla International Race Set to Return to Qatar in 2027

Visit Qatar, in partnership with Qatar Challenge Racing Club, has announced the return of the Samla International Race, scheduled to take place on January 23, 2027.

The upcoming edition will once again bring together male and female athletes from across the region and around the world to compete in one of Qatar’s most demanding endurance challenges.

First launched in 2017, the Samla Race has grown into a flagship sporting event, attracting elite competitors and endurance enthusiasts. In its previous edition, participants from GCC countries made up around 10% of the total field, highlighting the race’s expanding regional appeal and increasing cross-border participation.

As the official partner of the international edition, Visit Qatar continues to support major sporting initiatives that reinforce the country’s position as a leading hub for sports tourism and global events.

Widely regarded as one of the toughest endurance races in the region, the Samla International Race pushes competitors to their physical and mental limits. The challenge spans 100 kilometres and must be completed within a strict 12-hour cut-off time. Participants take on four disciplines—swimming, running, cycling, and kayaking—across varied terrain designed to test stamina, resilience, and versatility.

Organisers confirmed that further details, including registration timelines and participation guidelines, will be announced at a later stage.
