The White House has unveiled plans for a new $200 million ballroom, set to become one of the most prominent additions to the presidential residence in decades.

The “White House State Ballroom,” covering approximately 90,000 square feet, will offer seating for up to 650 guests—more than triple the 200-person capacity of the historic East Room.

According to officials, the ballroom will reflect the classic architecture and design of the White House while being constructed as a largely separate structure. Despite its separation, the building will blend seamlessly with the iconic style of the residence.

Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2025, with completion expected well before the end of President Donald Trump’s current term. The new ballroom will replace the heavily modified East Wing, which currently occupies the planned site.

The expansion is expected to enhance the White House’s ability to host state events, official ceremonies, and large-scale receptions.
