Kohat, Pakistan: At least seven people were killed and 25 others sustained injuries on Friday when a devastating suicide blast struck a mosque in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police and rescuers confirmed.

The incident unfolded in the Kohat district. According to an official statement from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, a suicide bomber successfully rammed a vehicle heavily loaded with explosives directly into a mosque situated within a residential complex used by police.

State-owned Rescue 1122 reported that all bodies and injured victims were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. Officials warned that the death toll is feared to rise because several of the wounded individuals are currently in critical condition.

Following the initial explosion, an intense exchange of gunfire with armed terrorists continued at the location as security forces responded to the emergency.

Investigations remain ongoing across the district, and authorities confirmed that no militant group or organization has claimed responsibility for the deadly mosque attack yet.
