Repairs planned across old Muharraq

Vacant shops and ageing facades across old Muharraq are to be repaired and made ready for a December cultural programme, with four firms bidding from BD81,761 to BD377,204 for the work.

The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities wants the sites finished and handed over in November, leaving them ready for use the following month.

The job covers facade upgrades, repairs to selected empty shops and maintenance at several sites across historic Muharraq.

BACA says the work must keep the city’s architectural character intact.

Ivory Land Interiors WLL submitted the lowest offer at BD81,761.740.

Durrat Al Muharraq Cleaning & Maintenance bid BD110,786.192, while Saraya Contractors Co WLL offered BD138,178.502.

Trans Global Contracting put in the highest price at BD377,204.200.

All four bids were accepted when the tender opened on Thursday. They will now go through technical and financial checks, and the cheapest offer will not automatically win the contract.

Separate BACA tender papers show, however, that Muharraq Nights 2026 is due to run that month along the Pearling Path, using heritage buildings, public spaces and 17 squares across historic Muharraq.

Another BACA tender opened on Thursday seeks partial repair work on five historic buildings in the city. That job also carries a November deadline, with the buildings due to be used in December.

The two contracts add to a wider round of work in historic Muharraq ahead of the year-end cultural programme.
