EssilorLuxottica and Meta expand AI smart glasses range in UAE
EssilorLuxottica and Meta have announced the expansion of their AI smart glasses portfolio in the UAE with the launch of new Ray-Ban Meta optical styles designed specifically for prescription lens users.
The new collection introduces two optical-first models — Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and Scriber Optics (Gen 2) — as part of the companies’ growing partnership in AI-powered wearable technology.
The latest designs feature slimmer frames, interchangeable nose pads, adjustable temple tips and overextension hinges for improved comfort and customisation. Both models also include a dedicated action button that allows users to activate Meta AI with a single press.
The companies said the new optical styles support a wide range of prescription lens options, including single-vision, progressive and Transitions lenses, allowing wearers to seamlessly adapt between indoor and outdoor environments.
Alongside the new Ray-Ban Meta styles, additional colour options will also be introduced across the Oakley Meta product range, including Oakley Meta Vanguard models with Transitions lenses for the first time. The integration combines adaptive lens technology with Oakley’s Prizm lens system designed to enhance colour and contrast during sports and outdoor activities.
The announcement also includes expanded Meta AI capabilities on the smart glasses platform, including live translation support in additional languages such as Arabic, Japanese and Mandarin. New features will also include hands-free food logging, nutrition tracking and AI-powered message summarisation.
Francesco Milleri and Paul du Saillant said the partnership with Meta has helped create an entirely new AI glasses category, adding that the latest launch represents a major step toward expanding adoption among prescription eyewear users.
The AI glasses allow users to interact with Meta AI using voice commands, capture photos and videos, listen to music, make calls, send messages and translate conversations in real time. The devices feature a 12MP camera, 3K video recording and a six-microphone system for enhanced audio and voice interaction.
The Ray-Ban Meta collection, including the Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics models, will be available in the UAE starting May 18 through Ray-Ban stores and optical retailers. Retail prices for the new models will start from AED 2,050.
