Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed she doesn’t watch herself in And Just Like That…, despite reprising her iconic role as Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City sequel series.
The 60-year-old actress admitted during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that she avoids watching her performance — not out of indifference, but discomfort.
“I don’t not watch it because I’m being cavalier about my relationship [to the project],” Sarah explained. “I don’t watch it because I don’t love watching my work [and] myself.”
Despite this, Sarah emphasized how much the show means to her. “It doesn’t touch on how I feel about the experience or how much I care,” she said. “In fact, it’s because I care that I can’t watch it.”
Earlier this year, Sarah shared that she takes great pride in playing Carrie Bradshaw, a character she’s portrayed through Sex and the City and its revival series And Just Like That….
Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast, she reflected: “First of all, the way she was speaking, like her choice of language — I’d never seen or heard a woman talk like that.”
She praised Carrie’s “curiosity about sex and sexual politics,” noting how different that is from her own personality. “Which is not like me — I don’t talk about that at all even with friends. I’ll talk about it globally, but I don’t sit and share intimate details of my life that way.”
Sarah described Carrie as a “little survivor,” adding, “I admired that she was scrappy.”
Sarah Jessica Parker stars in And Just Like That… alongside Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. She is married to fellow actor Matthew Broderick.
