TikTok has rolled out a new feature designed to encourage healthier screen habits and promote mindfulness, especially among teenage users. The platform now offers guided meditation and relaxation sessions to help users wind down and improve sleep quality.
Tested earlier this year with a select group of teens, the feature is now available globally. It activates automatically for users under 18, aiming to limit late-night scrolling.
If a teen continues using the app past 10:00 PM, TikTok will pause video recommendations and display a calming prompt featuring soothing music and breathing exercises. Ignoring the prompt triggers a full-screen reminder to log off and rest.
Adult users can also enable the feature by selecting “Sleep Schedule” in their screen settings and choosing a preferred time for nightly reminders.
This tool is part of TikTok’s broader push to support teen mental health and manage screen time concerns. It follows several wellness-related safety updates and comes amid increased pressure from regulators and health experts.
As part of its mental health campaign, TikTok has also committed $3.2 million in ad grants to 31 mental health organizations across 19 countries through its Mental Health Awareness Fund.
