2 Seas impress in tests

Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport kicked off their debut campaign in the GT World Challenge Europe’s Endurance Cup yesterday by topping the timesheet in class in the first of two test sessions on day one of the official prologue, held at Circuit Paul Ricard in France.

Competing in the series’ Gold Cup, sharing the duties behind the wheel of 2 Seas’ MercedesAMG GT3 contender are team co-owner His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Lewis Williamson of Scotland, and Martin Kodric of Croatia.

They set the pace in their category in the 2024 season’s first on-track action, clocking a fastest lap of one minute 53.297 seconds while completing 58 laps of work.

They were second quickest overall amongst all 51 participants on the session classification, which was topped by Team WRT’s #32 crew, who were 0.131 seconds quicker.

Ranked behind 2 Seas in the first test were CSA Racing in an Audi challenger, Al Manar Racing by GetSpeed in another Mercedes-AMG car, and Team RJN and Optimum Motorsport, both in McLarens.

Meanwhile, in yesterday’s second session, 2 Seas were third in class behind CSA and Al Manar. 2 Seas had a best lap of 1:53.529 with just 28 laps of running.

On the overall timesheet, 2 Seas were 10th from the 51 cars.

The #32 of Team WRT were once again pace-setters. The prologue continues today with another two test sessions scheduled.

Endurance Cup The field is preparing for the GT World Challenge Europe’s opening round in the Endurance Cup, which takes place from April 5 to 7, also at Paul Ricard.

Another prologue on May 21 and 22 will be held ahead of the 24-hour race in Spa, Belgium, marking round two from June 26 to 30.

Round three will take place at the Nurburgring in Germany from July 26 to 28, and then the fourth and penultimate meeting will be held from September 20 to 22 in Monza, Italy.

The curtain-closer is then scheduled for November 21 to 23 in Jeddah.

Their debut campaign in the series adds to their participation in the British GT Championship, thus expanding their racing schedule for the season.

2 Seas are the reigning GT3 teams’ title-holders in British GT and will be looking to add to their accolades when they compete in the GT World Challenge’s Gold Cup.

HH Shaikh Isa, Williamson, and Kodric have all driven with the team across multiple other events.

HH Shaikh Isa is a double champion in the Gulf 12 Hours, and he will be making his European race debut. Williamson is a former Autosport BRDC Award winner.

He is back with the team having scored multiple podium-finishes in the 2022 British GT campaign.

Kodric is also returning with 2 Seas having been teammates with HH Shaikh Isa for their Gulf 12 Hours victories, and has also scored wins in GT Open and British GT events.
