Bahrain club Dar Kulaib have been drawn in a challenging Group D for the 40th Arab Clubs Volleyball Championship, taking place in Tunisia next month.

The draw for the competition was held Sunday night by the Arab Volleyball Federation (AVF), which is headed by Bahrain Volleyball Association president Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.

The event took place at the AVF headquarters at Isa Sports City in Riffa.

Dar Kulaib is one of 19 teams from 12 countries participating in the tournament, which is scheduled for February 15 to 27.

The other sides in the Bahrainis’ division are Seeb of Oman, Peshmerga SC from Iraq, and a club from Yemen.

Group A consists of clubs from Tunisia, Kuwait, Algeria, Jordan and Libya; Group B includes clubs from Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Palestine and Libya, and Group C features teams from hosts Tunisia, Qatar, Iraq, Yemen and Palestine.

Al Ahly from Egypt are the defending champions but are not participating this year.

They won the last edition of the tournament, which was held in February of 2020.

Last year’s event was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dar Kulaib is one of the top volleyball clubs in Bahrain.

Last year, they were crowned back-to-back champions of the prestigious Crown Prince’s Volleyball Cup.

Their team is set to be spearheaded by top talents Ali Ebrahim, Mahmood Abdulwahed and Mohamed Yaqoob, among others.
