Volleyball league semis set to begin today

The semi-finals of 2020/2021 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain First Division Volleyball League get underway tonight at the Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) arena at Isa Sports City in Riffa.

Top seeds and defending champions Muharraq head into their match-up against fourth seeds Al Najma with a twice-to-beat advantage. Should Najma win this evening, the decider will be held on Wednesday next week.

The other final four series is between Al Ahli and Dar Kulaib, the league’s second and third seeds. Their clash is a best-of-three affair.

Game two will be held on Wednesday, followed by the third game, if needed, on February 15.

The winners of the semi-finals will move on to the championship round, which will also be held in a best-of-three format. Game one is scheduled for February 21, with game two on February 25. The winner-take-all match for the title, if required, will be held on March 1.

A one-off game for third place is also scheduled. It will take place on February 22. All games will be held at the BVA arena.

Tonight’s contest between Muharraq and Najma is set for a 6 pm start, followed by Ahli and Dar Kulaib’s battle slated for 7.30 pm.
