Six Bahraini players reach Round of 16 at Asian U16 Tennis Championship

Six Bahraini players advanced to the Round of 16 as the Asian Tennis Federation Under-16 Championship got underway at the Bahrain Tennis Federation courts in Isa Town. The event, running from October 4 to 10, marks the start of the 2025–2026 season for continental and regional competitions.

In the Boys’ Singles, Redha Hassan progressed after leading Egypt’s Hamza Sorour 6–2, 3–0, when the Egyptian retired injured. Hashem Al Tublai beat Saudi Arabia’s Salman Al Yami 6–1, 7–5, while Ali Al Khayyat overcame another Saudi, Sultan Al Yami, 6–0, 2–6, 6–4. Adam Bukhwa joined them in the next round with a 6–4, 6–4 win over Saudi player Al-Kadhim.

Brothers Ahmed and Talal Al Sayed advanced directly to the Round of 16 without playing a first-round match. Other results saw Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Al Yami, Abdullah Al Tamimi, Mohammed Al Nimer, and Ibrahim Hammoud all claim victories, alongside Australian player Ribello Jayden, who edged Bahrain’s Abdulrahman Al Doseri in three sets.

The tournament continues this evening with Round of 16 matches in both the Boys’ and Girls’ Singles categories, as well as the Doubles Quarterfinals. All matches are being played at the Bahrain Tennis Federation courts at Bahrain Polytechnic University.
