Muharraq Nights festival returns to celebrate Bahrain’s cultural heritage

Muharraq is eagerly gearing up for the highly anticipated second edition of the “Muharraq Nights Festival.” Organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) in collaboration with the Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research within the Pearling Path.

The festival is set to be a vibrant celebration of arts, design, fashion, crafts, music, cinema, food, activities, and tours. Scheduled to commence on Thursday, December 14, the Muharraq Nights Festival will span over 10 days, promising an intense cultural programme that caters to citizens, residents, and visitors.

The event serves as part of the Kingdom’s commemoration of its national holidays, which honour the establishment of the modern Bahraini state in 1783 under the reign of the founder Ahmed Al-Fateh and the anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s ascension to power.

The festival’s activities will be held across the historic neighbourhoods of Muharraq, with venues including the Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research, the Green Antiquities Pavilion, and various sites within the Pearling Path.

Testament

This UNESCO World Heritage Site serves as a testament to Bahrain’s ancient pearling heritage, stretching 3.5 km through the old city of Muharraq. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore public squares, the Qaisariya Market, the Fakhro Buildings, and other captivating landmarks.

With its diverse programme and remarkable venues, the festival promises to captivate both local residents and international visitors, offering a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the rich traditions and artistic expressions that define Muharraq and the wider Kingdom of Bahrain.
