The General Directorate of Civil Defense has launched numerous campaigns to promote public safety and encourage residents and citizens of Bahrain to actively participate in implementing safety measures.

In cooperation with the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Coastguard, the directorate held a comprehensive awareness campaign on licensed swimming pools in all governorates of the Kingdom.

As part of the campaign, the dedicated team conducted field meetings with swimming pool visitors, providing them with educational instructions on safety requirements and emphasising the importance of implementing these measures when using swimming pools.

The campaign highlighted the vital message that parents should never leave their children unattended in pools to prevent drowning and death.

Furthermore, the campaign featured a highly skilled fieldwork team that conducted inspection trips to licensed swimming pools across the governorates, ensuring compliance with public safety standards and the availability of essential rescue equipment and first aid kits.

The General Directorate of Civil Defense will continue its safety campaign throughout the summer, aiming to raise awareness and ensure the well-being of swimming pool visitors. In case of an emergency, please call 999.

Previously, The Daily Tribune reported several incidents involving expats in swimming pools, some of which resulted in drowning due to intoxication. The Water Safety Benchmarking Survey conducted by Royal Life Saving Bahrain (RLSB) revealed that less than half of the children in the Kingdom possess swimming skills.

Residents interviewed by The Daily Tribune stressed the need for improved safety measures in both licensed and unlicensed private pools. They emphasised the importance of monitoring and analysing drownings and injuries, as well as promoting basic water safety knowledge and first aid skills among the public.
