BPTC scouts for employee training
In line with its commitment to create a highly efficient public transport workforce, Bahrain Public Transport Company (BPTC), the new operator of Bahrain’s revamped public bus service, is sending a group of its network planners on an intensive training course to the United Kingdom.
This move supports BPTC’s focus on raising Bahrain’s public transport standards by developing the skills and capabilities of its workforce.
Three Bahraini employees from BPTC’s Network and Operations Department will be travelling to the UK to undergo two weeks’ technical training at the facilities of National Express in Birmingham and Manchester.
The trainees will be taken through vital methods of Bus and Crew Scheduling and will be introduced to advanced software for route planning and scheduling of buses and driver duties.
The trainees will also be involved in technical field visits to the control centres of National Express West Midlands, which oversee approximately 1,000,000 passengers per day and 1,500 buses across Birmingham and Manchester.
“To ensure an efficient public transport system in the Kingdom, it is imperative that we provide our network planners with appropriate training to improve their skills capacity so they are well-equipped to support the requirements of public transport in Bahrain, enhance the passenger experience and carry out their duties in the highest industry standards”, commented Borja Bermudez, General Manager of BPTC.
