Bahrain Govt crackdown on terror  suspects yields results
Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Ministry of Interior for its continued vigilance and the on-going security operations, which recently resulted in the arrest of 47 terror suspects who planned to carry out terror attacks in the Kingdom.
Security forces had also seized highly explosive materials and firearms stored in a number of residential areas.
The Premier was chairing a Cabinet meeting yesterday.
The Cabinet then commended the security authorities’ ability to confront firmly and resolutely any hostile act of terrorism.
The Cabinet stressed that those who committed such crimes had no place in a civilised society, and that all sections of Bahraini society rejected their actions. Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa provided the Cabinet with a security briefing in which he highlighted the details and circumstances of the arrests.
The Cabinet also approved a draft legislation ratifying the Protocol of Amendment to insert the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement into Annex 1A of the WTO Agreement.
The Council of Ministers also took note of the Bahrain International Property Exhibition (BIPEX) 2015, highlighting the importance of such specialised exhibitions in boosting the real estate sector. On the development of the Kingdom’s education sector and its cooperation with UNESCO, the session welcomed the recent unanimous election for Bahrain to serve as Vice President of the 38th General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). On boosting international education cooperation, the session referred to the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Kingdom of Bahrain and France on the goals and duties of the Alliance Française institute in Bahrain.
The Cabinet also reviewed and decided on five proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives, following the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs and as outlined in the memorandum submitted by Deputy Premier and Deputy Chairman of the panel Jawad bin Salem Al Arayad.
The five proposals include the policy to redirect subsidies, revamping Sehla Avenue, providing infrastructure for marine transportation, opening 24 hour health centres and establishing new stadiums and public areas across the Kingdom’s governorates.
