The High Criminal Court acquitted a Bahraini man, charged with manslaughter, for lack of evidence.

The court ruled that the proof provided wasn’t sufficient to hold the defendant guilty of causing the death of the victim.

The court also referred to the CCTV camera footages which showed that the boiler caught fire for no reason, suspecting short-circuit.

Case files accused the defendant of work negligence that lead to the death of a person. The defendant allegedly switched on a boiler without ensuring caution, as it caught fire and killed a person standing next to it.

The victim was a friend of the defendant. Investigators charged the defendant with negligence. However, the court viewed that the prosecution failed to prove the defendant’s hand in the incident beyond doubt.

The court also accepted CCTV footage presented by the defendant’s lawyer as evidence favouring the defendant. The court concluded the defendant’s innocence after having 14 hearings and reading 326 pages of documents.
