Bahrain at the helm of Asian Cooperation Dialogue

Bahrain took over the presidency of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue for 2021-2022 from Turkey during a meeting of the dialogue in Turkey.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, took over the presidency from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and Chairman of the current session, Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Secretary-General of ACD, Pornchai Danvivathana, was also present at the meeting which had the virtual presence of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of member states.

Dr Al-Zayani affirmed commitment to the goals and principles of the ACD as one of its founding members.

He affirmed the importance of setting clear strategic plans and development programmes, as directed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The Minister stressed that Bahrain seeks to deepen coordination and cooperation with partners in the ACD to achieve common goals.

Ambassador of Bahrain to Turkey, Ibrahim Yousef Al Abdullah, the Chief of Afro-Asian Affairs, Ambassador Fatima Abdullah Al-Dhaen and the delegation accompanying the Minister of Foreign Affairs were also present.

Dr Al-Zayani stressed the importance of the ACD in strengthening cooperation in economic, trade, investment and cultural fields among member states to achieve common interests.
