Asian woman jailed for prostitution
The Lower Criminal Court has sentenced an Asian woman on prostitution charges to five years behind bars. The woman arrived in Bahrain to work as housemaid, but she fled from her sponsor after an Asian man convinced her to join prostitution and the possibility of earning more money.
He told her that he would bring her customers and she would earn BD10 and BD15 from each man. She also agreed to divide the income with him.
However, she lasted in the business for only 20 days as police nabbed her in a building in A’ali.
According to court files, a tenant in the building gave a tip-off to the police about her after spotting her inside the building on several occasions.
It was said that the building security guard was providing his room to the woman so she used it to have sex with customers. The court has also ordered to deport her once she completes her jail term.
