An Asian man accused of biting his workmate and chopping off his finger has been acquitted due to lack of proof.

The defendant was accused of causing permanent disability to the victim, but he was cleared because there was no any witness at the time the incident happened.

The accused also stood firm on his denial before prosecutors and the High Criminal Court, stressing that he didn’t have anything to do with the victim’s injury.

The plaintiff reported to police that the defendant went to his apartment and chopped off his finger by slamming the door shut on it before running away due to disagreement. However, the defendant refuted such claims, stating: “He (the plaintiff ) was about to sleep and I went to his room.

I was drunk. I opened the door of his room and I slammed shut it several times. He came to me and slapped me to stop doing that and I ran away because I was afraid he would do something to me.” The absence of an eyewitness played a key role in tilting the scale in favour of the defendant, as stated in the court’s verdict, which also underlined that it was unimaginable for a finger to be cut off because of having a door slammed shut on it.
