Bahrain has again earned deserving praise, respect and admiration of the world following the successful staging of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2021 at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) over the weekend.

The Cabinet extended its congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, during its weekly meeting, held remotely, and chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, yesterday.

It noted the tremendous efforts of the Kingdom’s national workforce in organising the F1 races, a clear reflection of the country’s global reputation as a successful hub for major international sporting events.

Successfully staging the desert racing spectacle was a triumph for Bahrain under the shadow of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Cabinet pointed out.

It also highlighted the telephone call received by HM the King from the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, on the subject of the latter’s announcement of the Green Saudi and Green Middle East initiatives, meeting the economic and social challenges of regional and international environmental issues.

HM the King affirmed the Kingdom’s readiness and commitment to supporting both initiatives to protect the environment.

The Cabinet welcomed the initiative announced by Saudi Arabia to reach a comprehensive political solution in Yemen.

It commended Saudi Arabia’s efforts, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and HRH Prince Mohammed in support of security, peace and regional and international stability.

Furthermore, the Cabinet praised the success of Egypt’s response to the shipping incident in the Suez Canal and expressed appreciation for its role in securing the stability of maritime trade lanes. The Cabinet expressed its sincere condolences to the president, government and citizens of Egypt on the death of passengers in a train collision in the Sohag Governorate, and wished those injured in the incident a speedy recovery.

The Cabinet also discussed and approved several memorandums, one of which was a memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the agreement between the Bahrain and China governments on the mutual establishment of cultural centres, which aim to enhance cultural cooperation between the two countries.
